There are some brilliant photography apps out there for the iphone and ipad. I particularly like the Snapseed app which has some great effects/borders etc. Using some images from a shoot with Louise last year, here some examples of what this particular app can do.

Tamara’s Dad is a farmer so Mum wanted a set of images that reflected the happy times spent down on the farm. It was chucking it down for most of the shoot but I was able to use the hay barns for cover so it all worked out well in the end!

Here are some images of Noah with his Mum at their home in Bishops Stortford. I photographed Noah three times in his first year and Mum wanted a new set of images as he is growing so quickly! All but one of the images were taken at Noah’s home, allowing the little live wire a break or two inbetween takes!

Kate’s mother-in-law was visiting from New Zealand and Kate wanted to make sure that she had some treasured family images from one of the family’s favourite places – Hatfield Forest. The boys pay regular visits to the forest as it is right on their doorstep and it was great to capture the whole family in this fabulous environment.

The Marriage of Charlotte and Carl
The Jockey Club in Newmarket was a new wedding venue for us when we photographed the wedding of Charlotte and Carl last month. It was a very wet day but luckily the size of the venue meant that we still had plenty of locations for their wedding photographs. It’s always a pleasure for us when everything takes place at one venue and we were able to cover Charlotte and her bridal party getting ready and then head downstairs for the arrival of Carl and his groomsmen.
Carl is from New Zealand and many of his family and friends had travelled to join them on their special day. The intimate civil Wedding service was followed by drinks and canapes in the spacious and antique filled reception rooms of the Jockey Club before Charlotte and Carl and their guest went off for their wedding breakfast. Of course no wedding breakfast would be complete without the speeches and these were particularly memorable, not only for their content but also the duration of 1.5 hours! Lots of photo opportunities though.
Ceremony & Reception Venue: Jockey Club Rooms, Newmarket. Wedding Breakfast: Chicken Consomme, Wild Mushroom Dumplings. Roast Rib Eye of Welsh Black Beef. Strawberry and Champagne Terrinne/Toffee & Pecan Cheesecake. Wedding Dress: Tara by Sassi Holford. Wedding Shoes: Rainbow Collection. Jeweller: Polly Edwards (hair), Daniel Greenberg (rings). Hair and Make-up: Zena McQuiston. Florist: Tolly Considine. Grooms Attire: Goldings. Wedding Cake: Amazing Cakes by Jean. First Dance Song: Make someone happy by Jimmy Durante. Entertainment: DJ. Honeymoon: Suffolk, then Australia & New Zealand. What advice would you give to Brides planning their wedding? Enjoy the planning – keep calm and carry on!

The Marriage of Johanna and James
I posted a sneak preview of this wedding a while ago so I thought it about time that I posted the full wedding. So here are the images from Johanna and James’ big day in Derbyshire. It was a lovely day at Blackbrook House in Belper, a great venue with a spacious top floor for the bride and her party to prepare for the big day.
Blackbrook House is ideally suited for a wedding with intimate rooms for the drinks reception and a light spacious function room for the ceremony and the wedding breakfast. After an emotion filled ceremony the new Mr and Mrs enjoyed the drinks reception with their guests before we took them off into the grounds of Blackbrook House for their wedding photographs.
Ceremony Venue: Blackbrook House. Wedding Dress and Shoes: Sharon Bowen. Jeweller: Zenana-Mallorca. Florist: Lili Floral Art. Wedding Cake: Joanne Ramshaw. First Dance Song: Insatiable by Darren Hayes. Band: The Keytars. What advice would you give to Brides planning their wedding? Take a course in Project Management or get someone else to do it for you if you work!

Here are some images from a recent family shoot in Buntingford, Hertfordshire. Although it was pretty chilly, we still made it outside and I got some lovely shots of the children in the family garden. I was then able to add to these shots with some others taken indoors whilst having a nice hot cup of coffee!

Winter is a great time for photo shoots as the light is so good and it is never as cold as you think! I was booked to take a large family shoot for Sara and her family just before Christmas. Sara is a hairdresser and runs Occasion’s who specialise in hairdressing for weddings. We met when we were both covering the same wedding and she just happens to be a near neighbour of mine as well. The shoot was organised as a surprise for Sara’s father with most of the family in on the secret. Although it was a little bit chilly everyone was very obliging – fuelled by hot coffee and cocoa! Here are some of my favourite shots from the session.
